Education: Ph.D in Chemistry, Jilin University (2016) Qingkai comes from Jiangyin, China. He first worked in Sean Xian-An Zhang’s group as a master degree graduate student majored in organic chemistry. In 2013, he joined Prof. Wenjing Tian’s group and then got PhD with a major in polymer chemistry and physics from Jilin University. After graduation, I first worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the Prof. Zhaochao Xu’s lab at DICP, Chinese Academy of Science for 3 years. Then, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate in Prof. Xiaocun Lu’s lab at Clarkson University for another 2 years. In the past 10 years, he has worked in four different research labs. His research works focused on stimuli-responsive molecular switches, mechanochemistry, fluorophores and super-resolution single molecular location microscopy. Qingkai joined the Aprahamian Group in the summer of 2021. In his spare time, he enjoys playing ping pong, cooking delicious food, and traveling with his family. |
Hometown: Himachal Pradesh, India
Education: Ph.D in chemistry, IISER Mohali Indu Bala was born and raised in Himachal Pradesh, India where she did her schooling. She did her bachelors in chemistry honors from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2013. In the same year, she joined IISER Mohali as an Integrated PhD (chemistry) student and completed her masters in 2015. She started her doctoral research in august 2015 under the supervision of Dr. Santanu Kumar Pal. Her research work included the design, synthesis and characterization of discotic liquid crystalline polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with a strong interest on their application in electronic devices. After completing her PhD in 2021, she joined the Aprahamian Group in the fall of 2021. Besides lab, she enjoys listening music, nature outings and reading. |
Hometown: Budapest, Hungary
Education: Ph.D in Chemistry, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (2019) Dávid Komáromy was born and raised in Budapest (Hungary) in 1985. He was awarded a bronze medal on the 35th International Chemistry Olympiad in 2003. He studied Philosophy, Literature and Chemistry at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest between 2003-2010. After graduation he continued his Chemistry studies at the Freie Universität Berlin as a DAAD fellow. In 2012 he obtained his MSc from Chemistry in the group of Christoph A. Schalley, where his research focused on supramolecular mass spectroscopy. After a short research stay at ETH Zürich, where he studied the mechanisms of anion formation in MALDI-MS he started his PhD studies at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the group of Sijbren Otto, working in the emerging field systems chemistry and de novo life. After obtaining his PhD in 2019, he returned to Hungary, where he worked as a barman as well as a mentor and teacher at Milestone Institute, where he prepared extraordinarily talented and ambitious high school students for their future careers. He joined the Aprahamian lab in October 2021, working of the development of negative feedback loops and reaction cascades based on bistable hydrazone switches. |
